Overview
The customer interface unit(CIU) is a self-contained device that implements its own battery-backed power supply and PLC/RF communications and it does have specific functionality such as  LCD display, indication of alarms for low credit or tamper  conditions, communication to the meter etc.

·With backup battery, even if there is no power supply, the meter can be recharged
